World Braille Day 4th January
Commemorating the birth of Louis Braille (1809), France. After losing his sight in childhood, he developed a coded system of raised dots and published his
“Procedure for writing Words, Music and Plain-song using Dots for the Use of the Blind” in 1829.

Education is a human right, a public good and a public responsibility. The United Nations General Assembly proclaimed 24th January as International Day of Education, in celebration of the role of education for peace and development.

Holocaust Memorial Day 27th January
For everyone to remember the six million Jews murdered during the Holocaust, alongside the millions of other people killed under Nazi Persecution and in genocides that followed in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur. An opportunity to learn more about the past and take action to create a safer future
The theme for 2021 is “Be the light in the darkness”.
