This Island is big enough for all of us!
Sunday 15 May 2016 was the date of the UK’s annual Walk the Wight event. This event has thousands of walkers covering the island’s roads and footpaths.
But a day ahead of them, a group of just 15 walkers could be found tackling another trail. Sponsored in aid of the Steve Sinnott Foundation, and logistically supported by the Isle of Wight Association of the UK National Union of Teachers, they followed the the island’s Stenbury Trail. They walked just short of 20 miles – 19.884 miles to be exact.
Full of smiles and ready to go
… and they’re off
Orienteering check and a photo opportunity
Stop for a stretch, and off again
Sun’s out. Still smiling.
Just a note for journalist readers
The Steve Sinnott Foundation was established in the name of Steve Sinnott, who was General Secretary of the National Union of Teachers until his death whilst still in office in April 2008.
The Foundation promotes Education for All, a global movement of people committed to ensuring access to high quality primary education for all children in the world, regardless of their circumstances.
