The Wamu Project is an educational initiative for survivors of sexual violence. Working in partnership with the Maison Dorcas transit house in Bukavu, DR-Congo, we seek to implement an education and counseling program geared toward aiding the women in overcoming their trauma holistically. We also aim to develop the already existing education program at Maison Dorcas, thereby increasing its efficiency and effectiveness.

The Project will provide:
1. A comprehensive library, offering its services to survivors of sexual violence and persons displaced by the ongoing conflict in Congo, as well as poor women and children in the area.
2. Literacy classes in English and French, geared at educating older women who can no longer return to school
3. Trauma counselling and strengths-development, to empower and aid the psychological recovery of the program participants.
4. Scholarships for younger girls to be able to return to school and receive a diplmoa
5. Computer Literacy courses for women who have displayed sufficient literacy and competence to learn basic computer skills
