Our centre caters for orphans and other disadvantaged poor in Nairobi. Ngando Universal Centre is a community based organization and project located in one of the slums areas in Nairobi. It is supporting needy children and the vulnerable i.e. orphans, street kids, and children from extremely poor homes. The project is located in Ngando Slums, Nairobi-Kenya and we offer all basic necessities both educational and family support..
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
We have a significant number of poor families in Kenya. The urban slums are acutely affected and the Ngando Universal Centre has taken the initiative to assist the poor children in the slums who cannot the basic necessities.
How will this project solve this problem?
(a) School care and education for the needy. (b) Home based care for needy children and needy families through provision of goods and services. (c) Undertake qualitative research on problems facing children and families in Kenya and make recommendations on how best children and family welfare can be done. (d) Educate through awareness seminars and workshops on family bonds which is aimed at strengthening the families. (e) Offer food supplies to poor families.
Potential Long Term Impact
NUC shall undertake research in those communities that are affected by poverty. The organization shall undertake counseling sessions among the poor. Initiate income generating projects for poor families through skills training and financial support. Initiate pro-poor community projects that can have direct impact for improvement of the livelihoods of the poor. Encouraging medical supply to the children and poor families for their heath care. Lobby government .
Ngando Universal Centre has been sensational and hope for the hopeless in our slum community to access education and opportunities for poor women to achieve sustainable livelihoods.
