GREAT PLACE GREAT CHOICE
FOR LIFE LONG LEARNING |
Subject: Request for support for the provision of Education Program for the community.
This is a centre for Higher Learning, situated in Warden, Free State Province, South Africa. This college was started in 2003 by the special request made by the community, as there were no college available in this rural area.
The community consist of mainly the workers and their families of the farms around this area and unemployed people from the Location ( township ).
Most of them survive depending on the pension of their grandparents.
This is the only college in this small town with the Department of Education and we serve the community by offering skill subjects – Computer practice, Information processing, Office practice with Accounting, Public administration, Entrepreneurship & Communication courses. There is a high job rating for these courses. Last year the college started with the NQF level 2 replacing N3, we have now started NQF level 3 and next year we start level 4. This has given us a greater challenge as there are a lot of students who want to join the college and can’t do so because of financial problems.
The college is looking at ways to see how best we can support these rural disadvantaged children.
Some are orphans, from child headed families, parents unemployed or having a very low income and cannot afford to send their children to colleges.

We need funding of the expenses of NQF 2, NQF level 3 2011 education programs starting from January 2012 to December 2012 and our N4, N5 and N6 education program from January 2012 to June 2012 and June 2012- December 2012.
It has been a great challenge making the learners continue with these programs due to financial problems they look for temporary peace jobs to survive. There are lot of disadvantaged learners who really want to do some thing in their life but due to financial problems and their backgrounds are unable to do so.
Most of the learners are from a very disadvantaged backgrounds and staying at home after Matric (Basic Schooling) doing nothing, either their parents are unemployed, living on pension or earning a very low salary. That learner who manages to complete N4 can go for N5 and N6. Learners who complete N$ to N^ over 18 months qualify for the national Diploma.
Course Duration
NQF LEVEL 2: 1 year
N 4, N5 and N6: Matric + 6 months
Your support in this community development project is highly appreciated.
Thanking you
