About CMD
The Christian Mission for Development (CMD) is a non-profit, non-governmental ecumenical Christian development and humanitarian organization working in partnership with church and community organizations among the poor communities. Since the formation in 2003, CMD embarked on providing holistic development and humanitarian services to war-ravaged and poverty-stricken communities through its five programs i.e. education, heath, agriculture, democracy, and peace and leadership development in Southern Sudan.
Introduction/Summary
Christian Mission for Development (CMD) plans to build a 14 classrooms primary school centre in Ayod County, Southern Sudan. The Township of Ayod County has only one congested primary school that serves both the primary and the secondary school going children and the others schools are runs under the trees. However, most children who are of school age wander aimlessly in the town and those who go to the available schools under the trees are not contented with the service offered. On the other hand, the area has only one health care clinic which is very congested and cannot cope with the population. The living situation in this region is terribly alarming and need outside interventions in order to bring hope to the formerly war-torn communities through education.
Challenges or problems in the region:
Most social infrastructures including schools, homes, churches and market centers were destroyed during civil war leaving the region with limited alternatives for their social survival. The signing of CPA in 2005 has made the region habitable. The Returnees or the internally displaced persons (IDPs) have returned to the region. Population has grown bigger. The increased population requires spiritual, physical and economical mentoring and support. Church services and school learning are being conducted under trees. As a matter of urgency we aim to build permanent structures that would be able to accommodate 1000 pupils.
Project Justification/Rationale:
There are several factors which would justify the existence of the proposed educational centre in this area: Southern Sudan has been a closed region for a very long time, neglected by governing authority in Khartoum, the region has been under war for more than two decades; few schools are available and people forced to learn Arabic and forced to take strange religions against their wishes. Since the signing of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) in 2005, the successful referendum on Southern Sudan independence from north Sudan on January 9 2011 and the good working relationship between the present Government of Southern Sudan and the church, this can make this dream possible for the region is duly in peace and stability.
The implementing and sustainability:
The Ayod Educational Centre project will be implemented by the following organizations:
a.) Christian Mission for Development (CMD)
b.) Community-Representatives
c.) Para-Church organization
d.) Professional expert - professional guidance
All these will form a board that shall make policy. After completion of school construction and the ending of donors funding, parents will continues to contribute some little funds as fees; this shall help in making them own the project and its sustainability.

Conclusion:
It is a known fact that education is important and right to all. Many countries both developing and developed have come up with very strong policies about education whereby education has been made compulsory to all and therefore a right
