When Steve Sinnott died in April 2008, Mary nominated two organisations to receive donations in his name. One was the Global Campaign for Education. With these donations the Global Campaign in the UK established the Steve Sinnott Award for Global Campaigners of the Year.
The award winners for 2010 are two year 10 students from Walthamstow School for Girls, Rhiannon Kruse Edwards and Ronan McKenzie.
In February 2010 Ronan and Rhiannon travelled to Ghana to explore barriers to education. Nearly one million of the 72 million children missing out on school live in Ghana. Here is their film of the trip. |
Ronan and Rhiannon have also had the chance to put their questions to MPs from the Conservative, Liberal Democrat and Labour parties to ask them what they plan to do to help achieve education for all. |
